Born on July 5th, 1994 in Ōshū, Iwate, Japan, Ohtani grew up in a sports-oriented family. Both of his parents were athletes, with his father playing corporate league baseball and his mother playing badminton. He attended Hanamaki Higashi High School in Japan’s Iwate Prefecture.
