Shohei Ohtani Has Become The BEST Player To Watch.. Here’s Why
Welcome back to MLB Madness. Shohei Ohtani has become a spectacle to watch, not only because of his unprecedented play as a two-way star but the new records he sets with seemingly every outing. The latest accomplishment came via his velocity, as he threw the fastest pitch in his career in the Angels’ 6-1 win over the Astros on Saturday night at Minute Maid Park.
Ohtani, who typically touches the upper 90s with his fastball, emphatically kicked things up a notch when he threw a 101.4 mph fastball to strike out Kyle Tucker in the third inning. It was the fastest strikeout pitch by an Angels pitcher in the pitch-tracking era. Ohtani allowed just one run on six hits with seven strikeouts over five innings, en route to his 12th win of the season. Meanwhile, annual MVP debates always come with strong opinions and varying takes, but never before have we had to ask this question — if one player puts up MVP-type numbers as a hitter and a pitcher, as Shohei Ohtani does every year, should he automatically win it?
