The Texas Rangers have been incredibly aggressive in free agency the last two winters signing Marcus Semien, Corey Seager and Jacob deGrom to massive contracts.
Shohei Ohtani was originally heavily pursued by the Texas Rangers when he came to MLB out of Japan before the 2018 season but signed with the Los Angeles Angels. After years of losing even with Mike Trout on his team Shohei Ohtani is set to become the most valuable free agent in MLB history.
The Rangers have the room in their payroll to afford a massive contract for Shohei Ohtani and he would give Texas exactly what it needs most: a middle of the order bat and another elite pitcher at the top of the rotation.
