The day Shohei Ohtani pitched a one-hitter AND hit two home runs

HISTORY IN DETROIT!!! The best baseball player on the planet pitched his first career complete game, which OH BY THE WAY was a one-hit shutout. That was Game 1 of a single-admission doubleheader at Comerica Park, and in Game 2, he hit TWO home runs. It was incredible and ridiculous at the same time. Babe Ruth never did that, and in fact this was the first time in MLB history that a player pitched a shutout in one game of a doubleheader AND hit a homer in the other game.

So yeah. Pretty crazy to have been there. How close did I get to Shohei Ohtani before the first game? How close did I get to catching either of his home runs? Which milestone did Miguel Cabrera reach? What’s the deal with the new outfield wall dimensions? Why is the best foul ball spot ruined at this stadium? Want to see the fan with the best hair ever on my YouTube channel? There were so many fun and interesting highlights throughout the day and I’m glad to have captured them in a video.

Shoutout #1 to my friend Erynn not just for the free #NotDasani waters but for being great in general. She’s got her own YouTube channel which you should definitely check out:

Shoutout #2 to my friend Mitch (@mitchellmollisonn on Insta). He’s the guy who famously snagged FOUR foul balls during a “Watch With Zack” game. Here’s the video that we filmed about it:

Shoutout #3 to Rachel Messbauer who filmed the Shohei doubleheader video on July 27, 2023 and shoutout #4 to Zac Gutherman (@zg_films) who edited it. And finally, shoutout #5 to everyone who’s subscribed to me.
