野球においてOPSとはバッターを評価するための指標の一つでタイトルとして表彰されることはないが、バッターの総合的な貢献度を表す数字・能力を表す数字として打率や打点と同様に重要視されている。
この数字からは選手の細かな特性までは見ることができないが、数字か高ければ高いほど優秀なバッターを表す数字と言って間違いない。
