Dalton Rushing said he and Shohei Ohtani were much more in sync during Friday night’s start after using their previous outing together as a learning experience.
Following last week’s much-discussed communication issues, Rushing said both he and Ohtani came away feeling far more confident in how they worked together against the Padres.
“It was a boost of confidence.”

He added that Ohtani presents a unique challenge behind the plate because of the sheer number of elite pitches he can throw.
“He’s not an easy guy to call for… he has a lot of really good pitches and a lot of options.”
