Dave Roberts provided updates on Shohei Ohtani’s physical condition and Hyeseong Kim’s chances of earning a place on the Dodgers’ postseason roster.
Ohtani still has some manageable discomfort in his right arm and is not expected to be completely 100 percent. However, Roberts said Ohtani feels better than he did one week ago and should be in his best physical condition in quite some time when activated.
Roberts also confirmed that Kim remains under consideration for the postseason roster. The Dodgers expect Kim to join the major league group during the off week after Oklahoma City’s postseason run.
Kim’s speed, defense and ability to steal a base could make him a useful postseason option. Roberts said the remaining concern is his offensive consistency, including his tendency to chase pitches outside the strike zone.
